Are newly hatched chicks' eyes sometimes closed when they hatch? I noticed one of them my last hatch--within a day they were open and 1 this time that went a day before they opened.
Next thing, I have a chick that hatched last evening--actually, I thought it had died after pipping and after it sat that way all day, I cracked the shell a bit to make sure and it was still breathing so I zipped the shell, put it back in the bator and it came out then on its own. Anyway, I just now went to take it out of the bator and besides its eyes being closed, it has a big bubble on its throat with yellowish stuff inside. Its feet look kind of big--swelled or something too and it's just laying there breathing hard. I don't think it's going to make it...
