Hi there,
Been on the site for a few months and am just now getting around to introducing myself. I'm a new chicken owner, although I've raised various kinds of birds since I was in elementary school (mostly parrots). We live in the Salt Lake City area and I'm so excited that our city allows us to have a small flock. I'm absolutely loving my chicks. I have 5 pullets (about 16 weeks old) that we got in mid-October-- 3 Dominiques and 2 Silver-lace Wyandotts for now (although I have a sneaking suspicion that the flock is going to grow this next year
.
I also have two kids (10 and 13) and a large dog. The dog is happy about the chicken for sure because he thinks chicken poo is the best treat ever. Anyone got ideas how to change his mind (yuck).
I love hanging out which the girls. They are so funny. Two of them are very sweet and enjoy sitting in my lap if I am outside with them; the other 3 like to follow me around but that's enough for them. I've been really bummed out because I've been stuck watching them from the house for the last two weeks because I broke my leg and snow and crutches just aren't a great plan. I'm thankful my husband has stepped in on the duties and takes a few short videos so I can "get my chicken fix." He's even offered jokingly to bring one in the house for me one day when I was rather sick of being suck on the couch.
It's great to find a site like this with other people who are equally crazy about their feathered friends.
