Hello everyone
I have recently got a new chicken she was at the point of laying and I had my first very small egg earlier this week. Then I found 2 or 3 squashed eggs. Then I found a larger normal egg. Then two squashed eggs. Then no eggs today. My other hen has suffered from vent gleat and I think this has affected her reproductive system and I am fairly sure she has not laid for a year. However I have been treating the vent gleat with bathing and yogurt and cider and garlic in their water so maybe the older hen has started laying again. They both have oyster grit and layers pellets. They both have access to the treated water and the yogurt. When I got my first two chickens last year I had one soft egg and then they both went off great guns with two large eggs a day. Basically what I am asking is can this
sort of laying happen with a hen new to laying?
Sorry to ramble but I would be really grateful for any advice.:
