New Chicken Dad in Ithaca NY

Hello Everyone,

I have always been interested in sustainability but its been limited to solar, EVs and technology stuff. Chickens have been on my mind for many years, I have even read a few books about raising backyard chickens, but I had never taken the plunge. I finally did.

Coops all over central NY have been sold out for months because everyone is suddenly a prepper due to COVID19. I happened to find one last coop at a Country Max. I bought it on the spot. However my ambitions outgrew the coop within a week (common to me). I decided to build my own.

I watched a ton of "chicken youtubers". I got lots of info. I took the features and points that I liked and designed my own coop and run.

My post on the BYC FB group was deleted within seconds due to self promotion which sucks because I dont make anything on youtube. It also sucks because I have slow internet and it took me 15+ minutes to upload the photos. I dont want the same thing to happen here so I wont post a link unless I am told its ok. Instead I am going to try to reupload my photos. Is this group connected the the BYC FB group?

If anyone has any questions or would like the link to my youtube channel (assuming I am allowed to share something for free), let me know.

Ugh. "social media" yay lol. The FB group just banned me from posting. I assume because I posted a link to my youtube channel (that I dont profit from).

Some people like blogs and reading, some people like videos. I personally prefer videos but I will read forums when I have time. I learned a TON from chicken youtubers. I couldnt have built my coop without them. Videos are a passive thing for me that I can "watch" while doing the dishes or laundry. I had no idea posting my link would be so upsetting to the admins on the FB group.

I just want to learn and discuss chickens. lol Really didnt want any drama.
