Good morning! We are new to owning chickens and apparently due to "chicken math" we ended up with 20 (that's right, 20) chicks. They are all 7 to 9 weeks old.
12 of them are my 9 year olds 4H pullet project (amberlinks) and we are supposed to be returning 3 of them. 4 were raised for a few weeks by a friend and then given to us. ( 2 Cream leghorn I believe, 1 golden comet, and 1 black Jersey giant) And 4 were inherited from a neighbor... 4 Cochins I believe (maybe bantams) from TS. (1 tiny golden one, a couple of speckled ones and a black and tan one). So I think I have ended up with 4 cockerels, 2 of my Amberlinks and 2 of the Cochins. My question is when do I need to find homes for them? ASAP? I believe I should only keep 1 if I'm going to keep one? Does it matter which one I keep (breedl?
Like I said before, I'm new to this and have tried to do research, but was hoping maybe I could get feedback from other chicken owners here as I found a lot of other good info on this site.
Thank you so much!
