Hello,
My name is Byron and I am in the planning/building/preparing stages of chicken keeping. I was so excited to find all of the wonderful information on this site!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to chickens, though my family will be some help.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have none right now, but I'm planning on starting with 2 Orpingtons
(3) What breeds do you have?
Planning on Orpingtons. At least one buff, and maybe one black?
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google is a wonderful thing.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm a musician and orchestra teacher, and when I'm not doing something musical, I'm probably in the garden.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My partner and I recently (within the last year) bought our first home, and we've been working hard on the house and the yard. We live with our 2 dogs (a german shepherd and a black lab), 2 big cats, 2 parakeets, some fish, and an Eclectus parrot (when he's weaned). I'm definitely an animal person, and I'm looking so forward to having chickens!
