(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Hi my name is Patti and I live in Dripping Springs, Texas. We acquired our first flock about 4 weeks ago. Our chicken coop and run turned out really awesome. For what it cost to put build right I could by fresh eggs every week for the rest of my life and still be ahead. BUT watching our chickens and getting those fresh eggs from our chickens is just too much fun. Our grandchildren just love them. In fact my daughter is bringing her friends and their children this evening just see the chickens.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 10 chickens right now. One of our hens just turned into a rooster...lol. I am not sure he will be staying as I didn't want a rooster and would rather have a laying hen. Limited space. He is pretty cute though, a "Polish Rooster".
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 Silkies, 1 Americana, 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Plymouth Rock, 1 Silver laced Wyandotte, 1 Rhode Island Red, 1 Welsummer, 1 Polish, 1 Cochin
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I found you in Pinterest and when doing searches.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I have a horse barn and own 3 horses ( all retired) and board 2 others. I like going to gym, reading, watching TV ( not much time to do that) , knitting and COOKING.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have been married 47 years. We have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. We own our kitchen and bath design firm (open 37 years). I do the accounting and marketing and my husband (architect) is the designer. We have 2 rescue dogs, 2 cats, 3 horses, gold fish pond and now 10 chickens.
