Hey y‘all! My husband and I moved from the city to the country last year and got a nice piece of land where we can have our garden, a small orchard and raise chickens (maybe goats, ducks, etc). We had researched this site and several others for information for how to raise backyard chickens and were well prepared before we ordered our chicks. Had a brooder set up,w/ ecoglow heater and bedding, food, electrolyte water, all the “stuff”. Had also built the outdoor coop & run area, using the dog‘s old pen fencing, and shored up with chicken wire all around and in ground to protect from predator. We got 10 chicks in February; lost 3 in the first few days, but the other 7 are growing by the day and are so much fun to watch and spend time with! We moved them to the outside coop last week and they seem to really like it. I’m not 100% sure of their breeds but really don’t care. We are so excited to be part of the Back Yard Chickens crew and look forward to learning more about our chickens!
