I wanted to experience raising chickens. I live in WV in the woods on 5 acres. I had this awesome 12 x 30 chain link dog run in my backyard that was here when we bought the house. Thought it would make a nice chicken yard, so my husband bought me a chicken coop from Tractor Supply (good start) and I have been making the chicken yard safe for my chickens. Wanted to keep things cost effective so I covered the whole run with heavy duty bird netting to protect from hawks. Re-enforced the run by putting LARGE rocks all on the outside of the run fencing to deter predators. I have 5 light brahma chickens that are about 3-4 months old now. Love to watch them.
