hi everyone. My husband and I are on our 3rd batch of chicks. The first group were 13 free Roos that were culled when they were ready. The 2nd group were 10 hens that all successfully made it out to the coop. They'd come running and were so cute. Then a predator got into them and snagged 7. So we currently have 3 - only 1 of which is laying. Our newest batch we bought on 7/7: 10 barred rocks. Except only 4 turned out to be BRs. Two I believe will be leghorns, and the others are a mystery breed. Hubby has been building a predator "proof" coop so hopefully we won't have that tragedy again. Glad to be a member!

Hi :frow
Welcome to BYC!
We are so glad you joined our coop.
This video should help you find your way around the site.

Welcome to BYC, I worry about predetors attacking my chicken so I have fence mesh on top of the run under the crrogated panels incase something can squeeze in between coop frame and tin roof.

You might check out the predator threads for more information on safeguarding your flock. If you have a lot of predators -If you free range you have to expect a lot of lost birds.
