Hey All!!
So I found this chicken walking down my street alone this past weekend. The neighbors and I tries to catch her, as she was hanging around a swamp area by herself. Another neighbor stopped by and told us that he saw her laying in the middle of the road the night before with my cat. Later that night she was roosting next to my cat on top of my fence post and I was able to easily grab her. I brought her up the road to see if she belonged to the only house around that has a coop - not theirs….I took her in that night for safety and she quickly grew very attached to my family and 4 cats. She follows me everywhere I go! I take her out multiple times per day to free range but she will not stay out alone (sometimes for short periods if a cat is watching/protecting her).
I ordered a coop and it should be here this weekend. My plan is to pick up two pullets This weekend so she has a fam with her.
She sleeps close to me on a ladder perched, with plenty of paper towels under her (eww). Well this morning I was woken up to rooing!!! She’s done it for a few minutes twice this morning. Has not laid any eggs (5 days). Now I’m worried she could be a rooster?!
Also - what is her/his breed?
