(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I had chickens years ago, but this is the first time I've ever hatched my own in an incubator.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

I have seven chickens. Three of them were sold to me as "egg layers" by TSC, but I quickly found out they were meat chickens. They are three months old and thriving! I have to watch their food intake, but they seem healthy and happy. The other four are still in my house, in the brooder. I'm not sure what kind they are yet, because my friend gave me the eggs and she has a large mixed flock.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

They are so adorable and sweet! I'm very excited to watch them grow and to start collecting eggs when they begin to lay. I'm a HUGE animal lover, so I'm really happy to add chickens to my not so little family of babies!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I'm a crazy cat lady. I have six rescues, ranging from 8 years old to one year old. I also have two rescue dogs: a Chihuahua named Jada and a mixed baby named Sadie. I love spending time in my yard, living on my animals, and listening to contemporary Christian music.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I'm a school bus driver. We are currently out of school for the summer, so I'm taking this time to really get my chickens and my garden taken care of.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?

I joined the BYC Facebook group a couple of months ago when I decided to get my first chickens. I had no idea there was a website until today, so here I am!
