Hi, I am a new chicken mama from Katy, Texas. I bought 17 chickens (10-14 moths old) from a farm, and lost 2. One was sick upon arrival, and I just lost one yesterday, very sad. I didn't know what was wrong with her till it was too late. Someone was kind enough to guide me over Facetime video and she told me to massage her crop, which leads to smelly liquid oozing out. I kept on massaging her, petting her, but she passed 12 hours later. Poor girl. I want to stay informed and better prepared.

My question is, what medications should I have on hand? I know one that is mostly suggested is liquid corrid.

How about for sour crop? What must I have on hand besides Greek yogurt and apple cider vinegar?

Thank you in advance for your help and hello from Katy.

Hello and Welcome to BYC, Katy!!!:welcome:woot I am so so sorry about your chicken. Sometimes they pass before we can figure out what's up. 😞 Yes, Corid on hand for coccidiosis. ACV doesn't really do anything. Nutridrench, and Poultry Cell. And, any first aid items. Oh! Vetricyn is a must! I am sure other people will have suggestions as well. Oh and electrolyte packets for hot days and stressed/ill chickens.

Thank you so much for your kinds words. I will get all the things you suggested above from Chewy, except Corid, which I will get from Walmart. Thank you so much for your advice! Have a good weekend.
Welcome to BYC! Vetrx is another good one for respiratory issues.
