Hi everyone, I'm new at the chicken mama thing, learning all I can. Just getting our pen ready. My new house has a dog run that is perfect, gated roomy and secure, but gravel is on the grown right now that I have to rake up, however I'm not sure what I should put down for the chickens to walk on after I get this all cleaned up. A friend has @ 30 chickens and I notice she has down mulched leaves.

Hi, and Welcome!! This is a very friendly and helpful forum... I've found the answers to all the little questions and problems I've had so far (about 10 months into my "chicken adventure")

Welcome! Gravel is actually not a bad thing. It is easy to hose the poo out of, and keeps away the mud. Be certain that your dog run has hardware cloth all the way round the bottom to keep out smaller predators.
