Hi Everyone! My name is Carly and I'm new to raising chickens. I've been lurking for some time now while we get everything figured out and now that we have our little chicks, I figured I'd jump in and say hi.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? - I'm new to raising chickens but my husband is no stranger to our little feathered friends. As a kid he had chickens, ducks, and geese.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Right now we have 7 chicks.
(3) What breeds do you have? We have 1 of each of the following - Australorp, Speckled Sussex (they are both 2 weeks old), Dominique, Plymouth Rock, Ameracuana, Silver Laced Wyandotte, and a Rhode Island Red (they are all 1 week old).
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? - Through researching chicken raising online.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? - I like photography, baking, and sewing.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. - My husband and I have 3 kids (ages 13, 9, and 8). We also have 4 cats and a house bunny. I volunteer with our local humane society as a foster parents for dogs and as a Girl Scout leader for my oldest daughters troop. We've been a troop going on 9 years now! I'm also an accountant for a company that specializes in managing trusts. I look forward to getting to know you all and learning from such experienced chicken parents.
