Broke chicken lady

Hello Chicken World. I always heard of the hype of the obsession of chickens. I believe I stepped into this “NEW ADDICTION” because of a midlife crisis window I crossed through. I walked into my local Tractor Supply Store for some material we my husband needed. It was my day off and was going out of my way for by doing this jester. Low and behold... there the little Babies were. Well, I deserved to treat myself didn’t I? I call my hubby and ramble out ALOT of information about the material he was needing and slipped in “Can I get baby chickens? And at the end of the ramble. He reply “YES”. Not fully aware of what all he had agreed to.....
I grabbed 4 babies and the needed items (bedding, food and feeder/water). Off to the shop I go all giggles. I Have a few things I needed todo at work so I am forced to leave these little fluff balls in the my truck. I mean after all, my hubby has no clue he now a father of 4 chickens & it is not the place to tell the owner of the company in front of his employees. That his wife just made him a father without his true input. How rude would that be....
I wrap up my work in and hour or so and off to the house. Time to figure out what to do with my new secret creature.
I’ve got a few errands that have to get done. These tinny raptors are not a puppy. They can’t ride around in the truck with me. What do I have on hand that I can hide them in my 13yo daughter room so hubby don’t see them. I know.... a disposable cake pan with a clear plastic lid with sm holes in it.... stop judging me. No one was hurt in the process. Did I mention I have a cat to.... I’m going through some things here... obviously.
Sooo, Now a month has passed and I have been building them, what started as a simple chicken coop with a run attached to it because my cat is a 50/50 yard/house cat. And my new favorite living things need protection. About the time my hubby and I starting on the coop. COVID-19 shows up and I am now not leaving the house except for “Essential“ items, AKA Home Depot run for MORE Chicken (now) MANSION material. Let me just say this... no one said these little $5 guys were gonna be so expensive. My son stop by yesterday evening and a question was asked. How much money have you spent on material about $5K? And I’m not done yet!!! Oh sweet baby Jesus help me. If I don’t survive this CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC! There is a Hen house that will withstand a cat 5 hurricane in my back yard!!!
