I have 12 babies and a juvenile rooster we named Romeo. Never owned before.
We have 3 Olive Eggers. 2 Canadian Wyandotte’s, 4 Silver Wyandotte’s, 3 Rhode Island Reds. We have a large chicken house in our old barn with a huge enclosed outdoor yard. Right now the girls are still inside the house. Waiting till they are a little older to start introducing them to Romeo.
I am a home health nurse and my Husband is retired and works on our little hobby farm. Together we have 6 kids and only have 1 daughter left at home. She’s almost 17. We have 10 acres and grow hay. Our farm sits in the middle of Oregons Willamette Valley surrounded by huge grass seed wheat and honey farms. We have 2 horses 2 dogs and a cat. We usually have at least 1 to 2 beef cows as well.
We are new to chickens and I’m trying to fill my head with knowledge so any advise is much appreciated! I’m excited I found this website and I’m eager to learn as much as I can.

Yay, another Willamette Valley peep! You must have a very lovely view out that way~

Chickens are so much fun to raise, and I'm glad your youngest gets to be a part of the process. You should also check out the OR peeps thread on here and Oregon Backyard Chickens and Garden FB page to stay in touch with local chicken folk.

Looking forward to seeing more posts and pics of the new flock!
