Hello! My name is Kim and I'm from Kansas. I have 8 almost 4 week old chicks. My first time owning chickens. I'm worried about how to transition them to a coop since it's getting colder. I have eight different types. I am mom of three with a managerie of three kittens, two dogs and two horses and now adding 8 chickens.

Excited to learn a lot from this group!

Welcome!

Can you post clear pictures of your coop?
Ventilation is very important when it comes to cold weather.
Sadly, I don't have photos since it's still I production. I made the mistake to get the chicks before my coop is ready. The coop is coming Thanksgiving weekend. But I have a horse stall ready to move them into when/if they outgrown the brooder we have now. I made a chicken tractor with hardwire that can go in the stall if needed.

Hello Kim, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

Where are you located?
How large is your coop?
How much ventilation does it have?
What heat source are you using and do you have a section of the brooder at ambient temperature right now?
Located in Kansas. Coop is being built and says up to 15 chickens. Currently the chicks are in my mud room with a brooder plate. Plan to move them to the garage soon. They go outside daily for an hour or so when it's above 65-70.
