Hi! I am Lisa and a fairly new chicken mom. I started with 6 chicks in April; one turned out to be a roo. My faverolle became broody (I thought she was dying or sick!) and my more knowledgeable friend suggested I put some eggs under her. I was shocked that not only were they all fertilized, but all three chicks hatched! So now I have 9 chickens. I have been following this site since I first considered getting chicks and am excited to share my experiences and learn more.
Question for anyone with more experience:
I am attaching pictures for reference. One of my 3 chicks appears to be a roo. Tail feathers are not growning in like the other two pullets (who are growing like my older females), shoulder feathers are growing in strangely, pink crown already. I really don't want to rehome this little one, but I would only have 7 girls to two roos and I'm pretty sure that wont work out well. Could someone please tell me this is a girl?! I'm in denial.
In the pic on the right, chick in question is at the top, no tail feathers and pink crown.
Thank you all in advance. Happy to join.

Hi Lisa, welcome to BYC.
He may be able to stay, even though the ratio isn't ideal.
It depends on your rooster, your hens, and whether he is respectful to the older members of your flock. Since he is being raised by a hen, and allowed to interact with the flock at an early age, his chances of fitting in, are much better.
