(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Yes, we got our very first chicks at the end of November.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

We have 10 Hens and 1 accidental Rooster. He was supposed to be a hen 😅

(3) What breeds do you have?

We have 2 Golden Comets, 1 Sapphire Blue Plymouth Rock, 5 Ameraucanas, 1 Blue Laced Wyandotte, and 1 Buff Orpington. I am not quite sure about the rooster, since we were told he was an ameraucana hen, and he's missing the Ameraucana "mutton chops"

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

The fresh eggs are what got us started, but I love going out and spending time with them. It's very relaxing for me to go sit out with "our babies"

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

It's a wide range. We both like to game, and have recently gotten into gardening. I'm also an avid reader and my BF is very into tinkering. We both did archery as kids and are getting back into it as another hobby we can do together.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I have a bigger family and we are pretty close knit, all living next door to each other. My BF and I got a border Collie puppy back in January, and he is our baby. I also have a rescue cat that is 7 now.

The dream is to one day get a good sized piece of land and be able to have a full garden, more chickens, quail, a few goats, and maybe even a cow or two. We both want to spend our older years quietly gardening and raising our animals and being more or less self sufficient, but that's still at least 15 years or so off.
