Hello everyone. After a year of wearing my husband down, he finally agreed to let me raise some chickens. So last weekend we spent 4 days building a great coop and spacious run. We bought supplies and then went on a chicken hunt, via craigslist. I found six chickens that I have enjoyed for the last week, one has even given us a few eggs. They are 7 months old. I have 2 white leghorns, 2 golden comets and 2 specked sussex. Sometimes I feel like I may have been overexcited and got to many, but I think they are awesome! I have plenty of people requesting eggs already, so I don' t think any will go to waste. I did 95% of my chicken research on BYC and love the website. I'm excited to talk to other enthusiasts. I have learned from having them that, yes, they do make alot of poop, they drink alot of water, and you should not hang you water and food from a board that looks to them like a great roost.
