Hello all Chicken parents,
My name is Angie and I am a parent to 10 Plymouth Rock hens and A OOPS from Tractor Supply 1 gorgeous rooster. Also to a very spoiled German Spitz who believes he is a human boy and not a dog. (AT my own fault I must add)
I am new to chickens, I saw them all fluffy and cute and had to purchase them. So when they got big enough and the weather cooperated here in Vermont, I decided to clean out my husbands old storage shed and turned it into the new chicken coop and put a fence on the outside so they can have outdoor play time ( we have a lot of predators. we live in the boonies). I have done more research on chickens then I did when I bought my new car.
My Chickens are now 22 weeks old. I have bought everything under the sun for them. They get treats and toys. I am having a hard time on figuring out when they will lay eggs? I read from ages 19-22 weeks and some people have told me not for another year. That is why I joined this forum! After one of my friends showed it to me on Facebook I decided what better place to get great advice. I have new nesting boxes, 6 of them because I read 1 box to 3 chickens (IS this Correct?) I have used hay to pine shavings they are not sleeping in the boxes as there is no poop or feathers in them. I bought the ceramic eggs to show the new mommies this is where you lay your eggs. Still nothing! I made sure they were lower then the roosting bars I have for them and I made sure they are off the ground on cinder blocks. Anything you all can advise I would love.

Welcome to BYC, Angie! Some of them will probably lay any day. Some may not lay until they are much older. It sounds like you prepared well, so all you can do now is wait.
I feed mine a starter/grower or All flock feed, with the calcium on the side. Good nutrition is important to layers.
