Hi BYC,

I am a new chicken owner and one of my hens seems to be not doing so well. She is super lethargic and spends most of the day perched or sleeping. When she is awake, she seems to be doing lots of preening/cleaning of herself. She does not keep her eyes open very long.

I gently handled her and gave her some sugar/salt water mix to help her, it seems to give her a bit of energy. I have watched her eat and drink, and poo so it seems like she is doing OK in that regard.

Any ideas on what could be wrong with her?

You could try de-worming medication, Nutri-Drench, or amprolium.

She seems to be eating and drinking without issue. Currently still with the flock, but I do have a separate pen I could keep her in for now.

As for the worms I'm assuming I'd see some evidence in her poo?
Yeah, you usually would, but sometimes there are occasions where you don't see evidence but they are there. Have you tried any medicine?
