Hi, y'all! Although I've been planning getting chickens for around two decades, I only recently (like last week) got my own birds. I've spent a lot of time with other folks' chickens (e.g. walking out to my grandfather's barn multiple times per day to turn eggs in the incubator many years ago - miss you D.D.), I've read everything I could get my hands on, and I've scoured the hatchery catalogs every Spring for years. Last week I purchased two barred rocks, two easter eggers and four buff brahmas from the feed store. I am so excited!! My husband is nearly finished building the Taj MaCoop in our back yard. My husband said it's the nicest chicken coop he's ever seen. So I told him that each year a person has to wait for their coop, the one they eventually get gets better and I've been waiting for a really long time. I've been drawing up designs for what I wanted for years and that dream is about to be realized. I'll post pictures when it's finished because it's awesome and I can't wait to share it with everyone. I have about a million other breeds of chickens that I want to keep, but the eight we have will do for now. Y'all will probably hear from me quite a bit from here on out. I'm looking forward to picking y'alls' brains.
