New chicken owner

Hi everyone. I'm joining from los gatos, ca. We got 4 2 and 3 year old chickens from a neighbor. They are doing great except one is not laying. I'm glad to join this forum and I'm most paranoid about not accidentally poisoning the chickens by letting them root around our yard. Additionally I want my cats to get along with them. They are big chickens and the one that likes to hunt the most is a small cat so maybe I shouldn't be worried.

Congratulations on your new flock!

If your non-layer was laying at her previous home, it could be that the stress of moving to a new place has temporarily stopped her egg production. As long as she's healthy, she should start laying once she's settled.

I'd still keep an eye on the cat, they are nefarious. Chickens don't have the greatest defenses.

Hi and welcome to BYC. The feral cats where i live do not consider adult chickens a potential food source, but do be careful if you decide to get chicks.
