New Chicken Owner

Hey everyone! I am new to this forum and looking forward to meeting you and getting some much needed advice for raising my new chickens. A friend of mine is moving and so I have adopted her chickens. There are four in all and they are about 3 yrs old. I believe their breeds are Rhode Island Red and Barred Rock. Hope I got that right.

I have only had two weekends to get a coop built and learn a bit about them. This web-site has been an amazing help. I want my chickens to be healthy and happy as well as good egg layers. Not to mention I don't want a smelly, dirty coop that attracts unwanted critters.
