I am new to the chicken raising world and i have 2 roosters and 4 hens all are young except one hen that i got from my mom and dad when my dad passed. I need to know when i need to switch them off the starter food and switch them to the pellets? One of my roosters started crowing this week. So i figured that it might be time to switch them to the pellets. Also another thing is the hen that i got that's older was laying but she stooped and molted and has not lied since and still has yet to lie since she has been with me does anyone know why that is ?

Some take quite a long time after the molt to begin laying. Is she getting layer feed?

If your young ones are on starter/grower, you can switch them to Layer feed at around 18 weeks or so. Or you could feed all of them Flock Raiser now and just put out a dish of oyster shell for the hen to take as needed.

Good luck.

thanks so much and i started giving them laying feed today but i mixed in the starter food with it that way i can use up what i had left dont want to waste any food. im going to post some pictures of my chickens and i think that there about 6 months old. except the one hen she is about 2 years old .
