Hi. I am new to raising chickens. I live in PA. Our 6 baby girls were just 3 weeks old. I joined BYC because it has a lot of answers to my many questions. Right now it seems like the girls want something more then their starter food. When can I start giving them treats?

do you mean they are still hungry after they are fed? Maybe they just need to have more available. Otherwise treats need to be given responsibly. You know how kids aren't hungry until they see cake, cookies candy. Chicks can be that way about too many treats.& then decide they don't like their feed. In moderation they can have mashed egg yolk, unsweetened plain yoqurt,.
mealworms etc. When they are being fed something other than their chicken feed, they need to have grit available to them.

Hello & welcome to BYC. Looks like good info from "drumstick" so im just welcoming you to the site

Thanks everyone. I always make sure they have plenty of food and water available. It seems like when I am playing or talking to them that they are looking for something else. Oh yeah I also have a little bowl of grit in their pen to get them used to it. A person at TS store told me they can have treats at 4 weeks.
