New chicken owners

Hi! We are Nancy and Bobby and we live in central NY state in the finger lakes region. We were both born and raised here but moved away over 25 yrs ago when the military took us away from home. We have lived in a few places but spent most of our recent time in GA, just outside of Savannah, for the last 21 years. We recently moved back home to help care for my elderly mother-in-law. We have always wanted back yard chickens and have recently gotten six! They are so fun to watch! We have two dogs and a cat and all have actually adapted well to them (although still teaching our bigger hunter dog that the chickens don't need to be hunted lol). We are here to learn so we can provide the best for our newfound chicken family members! We can't wait till they begin laying eggs! We are glad to be here and thank you for this forum!

Hey y'all! There, now do you still feel like you're in Savannah?
I'm a South Carolinian living in Tennessee and I got my first 8 chickens five years ago. That entire group was lost to an unknown predator but after I got over it, I started again, much wiser. Now we have 30ish hens and I work from home so some days they are the only living things I see or talk to til my husband comes home from work. I love my girls!
