I recently added two new chickens to my existing flock. To my surprise the rooster did not try to fight them or anything, but instead he eats with them and sleep with them. On the other hand the new chickens are constantly chasing and pecking my older hens.... I’m confused as to what gender are these new chickens because they look like roosters, they’re about 4-5 months, and is a mix between a Phoenix and Ayam Cemani breed.

Did you keep them separated before introducing them? Pretty birds. I’m not familiar with the breeds, but the cream necked bird looks like a rooster to me. I can’t see enough of the tail of the other one. I’m also no expert.

Beautiful birds!! They both look like roosters to me, but I'd lean on the experts for that determination. Now I will be on the lookout for this type of mix 😍

thank you, I’m leaning towards roosters too but for some reason my older rooster is not fighting them 🤨. I’ve gotten rid of other roosters because my main rooster would jump kick other roosters. So when he’s not fighting these new ones I’m so confused 🤷🏻‍♀️

I actually didn’t separate them at all, I brought them home and put them in there right away to see how they would take it? And thankful it has been going well. Now I’m just trying to figure out what gender they are.

Usually a rooster will only be aggressive towards younger cockerels when they threaten him. Maybe they've kept to themselves and have been submissive
Ummmm maybe... because they have been eating and sleeping together since day one. Quite interesting... 🤷🏻‍♀️
