Ok so i have 6ix baby chicks

and today a friend gave me a meat bird but what im wondering if i can put them together or does it have a diseases he got it from a farm that growth them for slaughter and im not planning to kill it but to keep it as a pet so is it safe to put them together

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Your meat bird is too old and large to put with those chicks. He will likely peck them to death. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your chicks.

It would be best to give it back. Meaties are bred to develop very fast so they can be processed at 10-12 weeks. Their growth outpaces their organs, which give out and they generally die of heart attacks or strokes. It would be very sad to try and raise it as a pet, knowing it will die yound, regardless of how well you treat it. It couldn't be with your other birds because meaties will literally eat themselves to death and would keep your others away from the food.
