The chickens are back at the in-laws today...I just couldn't handle the thought of potentially losing the chickens we already have, or the thought of getting attached to two chickens that will probably die before their time anyway. 
It's sad but I think we did the right thing. I feel confident that my in laws will take good care of them until they are processed.
