Hi, we are very new to chicken owning. We live in a subdivision outside the city limits, so we decided to go for it! We no have four Buff Orpingtons, and they are 2 months old now. We converted an old playhouse into their coop and my husband built an awesome run for them. They also get free range in our back yard some of the day, but we have two 40lb german shepherd mix dogs as well whose intentions we're not quite sure of. The girls (chickies) are so sweet, even though my toddler likes to "smack" them (not hard, he just likes the noise they make). Well, recently they've become wise to his approaches, so they are getting better at escaping. They're also much faster now, so we're letting them out with him more. We are enjoying them, but we are definitely learning as we go. This forum is great, and the info has helped us get to where we are, but now we have questions, and I decided it was time to join in

Hopefully we'll do things right and have beautiful, healthy chickies for many more years!
