Hey everyone I'm new to the wonderful world of chickens and I need add much info as possible on coops and what I need here in northern Minnesota about 20 miles south of Lake Superior. My chickens will be able to free range, but I also want a safe place big enough for when I can't be out watching them. I have 10 chicks right now (6 of them are not sexed) and they are 3 weeks old. I definitely will want room to grow. Not sure how big to make coop, what kind of vents, insulation, how many nest boxes etc....my hubby said tell me what you want and I will build it, we have access to all sorts of free material to build! Also do broiler chickens need separate living spaces from layers? I only have layers, but possibly want meat chickens.
