Hello

I am new here and new to chicks also. Last year a bought a few Bantam chicks at a local livestock auction. They are grown now and starting to lay eggs.

I had such fun with just the few chicks that I decided to get more this year and ordered a mixed straight run batch from a hatchery.

They little beauties arrived yesterday all happy and chirping, although we did lose one the rest seem to be doing well.

Now this was an assorted batch of 25 chicks so I have all different kinds, I have taken a front and top view of some of those that stand out the most and was hoping someone could give me an idea of what kind of chicks they are. All the chicks are suppose to be purebred of one breed or another.

Chick #1

This one is a light grey, almost a silver color with a darker grey/silver stripe down the back. It is the only one I have of this color

I have no idea except that you have a feather legged one, the problem with chicks is that they look nothing like their pictures at adult age, anyway enjoy

and wait and see. That is part of the fun:jumpy

OK, I'm up for guessing:
#4: silver laced wyandotte?
#2: maybe easter egger because of the leg color
#1: I have no idea, but I simply must have one, send it to me immediately! That is such a cool color.

MacMurray hatchery has good chick pics even tho they have no adult pics.

1 - Self Blue or Blue OE? I have Self Blue OEs who look identical to that.

2 - Ameraucana

3 - Barred Rock/Dominque

4 - Barred Rock/Sex Link?

5 - Silver or Gold Laced Cochin

6 - Ameraucana

Thanks for the warm welcome.

LOL...I spent hours on Mcmurray's site yesterday trying to decided what I had. But to no avail, alot of the chicks for different breeds look so much alike at this young age.

Mcmurray is where I got these wee ones from, I am also waiting on an assortment of Brown egg layers due the first of June.

I can't wait for these guys to start getting their feathers so I can see what all I have, I was especially happy to see I got 2 diffrerent breeds of feather footed chicks. I was hoping for at least one crested but no such luck this time.

I can't wait to share them with everyone as they grow.

chick #1 looks kinda like a self blue oegb from front,
Chick#2 Looks like anamericauna (easter egger)
Chick #3 looks like a barred rock
Chick #4 Also looks like an ee to me
The feather footed one idk....D'uccle?
Silver laced wyandotte
Easter eggers
Well those are my guesses. No matter what they turn out to be, they are all cute chicks:)
