New chicks disappeared from cage

I had 3 brand new chicks 3 to 4 days old. I'm in Florida and set them up in dog cage covered on all sides. They were there this afternoon. Went to check on them before bed and they were gone. Not a feather, feed and water were in right place. They just disappeared.

Is this like a dog crate or a chainlink run? Is it outside? If outside, it may have been a snake.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that. Could you maybe take a picture of your setup? It may help to figure out what happened. Regardless, this must be so devastating for you and know that you are in my thoughts right now.

Hubby went out looking for them and thankfully found them alive and well. They were outside, inside the dog cage that also was inside the chicken run. It is covered with hardware cloth.
I am in southeast florida, and nights are hot. Breeder had them outside as well.
The little boogers found a depression underneath the cage and were hiding under the cage.

I found that a couple of my chicks were very clever about sneaking under fences. I went along with landscape staples to pin the inner, chick-tight portion of the fence down firmly.
