So this started out with 25 broilers and 4 buckeyes. We received the 25 Broilers but no buckeyes. Thats were the problem started. When we came home with the broilers the kids started to name them. OH NO. The next day I went back to the feed store and picked up a Silkie and a Barred Rock. Two days later the silkie passed and my daughter cried. Back to the feed store and picked up a Light Brahma and a Buff Orpington.

Everyone seemed happy, then my husband said "no one asked if I wanted to pick out a chicken" Lord he didn't! Looking through the Meyers catalog he found a German Spitzhauben that he wants. I told him that one might take a while to track down. Not paying shipping on one chicken. When we get broilers again he'll get his chicken.

So here's the newbies.

Rocket The Barred Rock

Norma the Light Brahma

Roslyn the Buff Orpington

Sounds like fun

By the way, how did you come up with Norma for the brahma? That's gotta be a first in naming a chicken

Norma, she said it the chick just looked like a Norma, who knows. I know she likes to give her pets real names, nothing like Lucky, ya know. On the other hand my chicks are named "here chick chick" With three dogs and two kids I usually yell the wrong name anyway. I get to the point and say something like YOU, HERE. haha Buy the way we love your name

Yep but there's comfort in knowing I'm not alone in my sickness I've got over 50,000 friends who agree!

When I had over 60 chickens, most of them hatched by me, (you know how that goes lol) I tried naming them all and succeeded in naming all the ones that looked different, but the groups of australorps, bovans and some others were pretty hard to name cause they all looked pretty much alike so I'd call those " Girlies".
Hey thanks for liking my name!

I've never been very attached to it...kinda sounded too masculine. I was named after my father Norman. Seemed to me that mom would not say my name sweetly when she was upset with dad.
