New Chicks with Old Hens or Just Stew the Old Gals?

Hey All,
I am getting a new brood(15) of chicks in about a month. I currently have 4 3 year old orpingtons who are lazy layers. Is it beneficial to keep the old gals around for the little ones or is the best place for them in the freezer? Thoughts?

From the perspective of the new chicks that are coming, their life would by far be easiest if there were no preexisting chickens around.

Some might choose to keep the older hens for other reasons, but if it's just a question of what's best for the chicks, definitely stewpot.
