Have recently joined and am new to forums.
4 weeks ago I bought 10 banties and am now down to seven. Last night put them out in a newly built chicken tractor. Weather is in the low 50's at night. Tarped the tractor completly and put two 100 watt lights in it, at 50 degrees do I need the tarp? 11 more coming tomorrow!!!!!! I got a antique brooder that I took out his barn attack and it works great. Have looked at brooder pictures on this site and havent seen one like mine. Hopefully can show pictures soon. Tried yogurt tonight for fun but dont quite know how well that is going yet. Heard about using cinnamon or cinnamon sugar to boost chicks, is this a wives tale or not?
Thanks,
ROCKNROD

I've only heard of sugar water and just for the first few days.
I think the temp should be around 80 degrees at that age so I don't think the heat lamp will keep it at that if the temp is 50's outside. I would tarp it but make sure they have ventilation.

Im no help but welcome to BYC, I hope it all works out for you.
Im in the middle of making a clear PVC cover for my coop so I can see into my pen, yet the girls are out of the cold and wind, im incorperating a vent.
Its not even that cold here in Cornwall, uk. My girls are just spoit!!
