new chicks

HELP! I have new chicks that hatched yesterday. Two things first there's some red stuff hanging out some of there butts and second when do they start pooping I don't want them to get backed up if possible.

The "red stuff" you see is probably their umbilical cord, which needs to heal (if you look closely, you'll see their vent is in a slightly different location). Just leave it alone, it'll heal on it's own. They should begin pooping any time now. I assume you have given them food and water, that expedites the process!
