Hello all,
We have some new chicks. For the last month we have kept them in a pen next to the coop so the others could get use to them. The chicks are now about 2 months old. The others are about 5 months old. When would be a good time to migrate them to the bigger coop with the rest of the clan?
We have 4 hens and 1 rooster. We put them in for about 15 mins today just to see how they would interact. The older ones were very curious but seemed a little offensive. I don't want them to get aggressive toward the chicks but I don't want them kept separate from the others. How do
I get them to mingle together?
Can you help us

I think your doing it right! Putting them together for short periods of time is great. I let mine free range from time to time, so when I am planning to add new girls, I will start by letting them free range together, this gives the little ones more room to get out of the way if needed.
No matter what you do, there is going to be some pecking going on, as they all establish a new pecking order.
