New chicky mama

I am an expectant chicky mama in Wisconsin. We have 1 Australorp (Louise), 1 Wyandotte Silver Laced (Charlotte), 1 Red Star (Alice), and 2 Easter Eggers (Ester and Bonnie) coming in two weeks! Who starts raising babies in August!?

We got into this crazy adventure by visiting some friends in CA. My boys (8 and 10) fell in love with their chickens and started talkin' the talk. We've been in high gear getting everything ready.

Welcome! I'm SO jealous (and excited for you guys...lol)!! You're a step ahead of me...I'm still in the planning the coup stage. This weekend I'm building the nesting boxes. Please share your experience(s) and post pics when they come... Are yours coming from a hatchery through the mail, or did you find someone local???

I'm getting them through the mail. Paying big bucks from My Pet Chicken, but I ran into a few problems finding local this time of year that were fun varieties, sexed, and all. I could have waited until sping, but where's the fun in that? Good luck with your building. I had a blast working on mine.
