My daughter works at a local diner and has become friends with one of the patrons. He has been wanting to give her one of his lab puppies and she has convinced step-dad and I to let her have one with this newest litter of pups. The mother had 12 pups, but only 4 survived. Apparently, her milk did not come in when it should have. The mother was taken to a vet and this is what was thought.

Anyway, I went with my daughter to see the puppies and to see the parents, as I believe a good indicator of a good puppy or dog is the parents behavior. I was thrilled with the behavior of both mom and dad. The puppies are 4 weeks old and seem in good health.

The father is a red lab and the mother is chocolate. We are getting a chocolate, but I almost like the reds better, but it is my daughter's dog, so I will let her decide.

Because of the high death rate with this litter, would you be afraid to get a puppy from this litter?

Thanks

No I wouldn't be. Things happen like that.
Congrats on the new puppy! Post pictures when you can.

I'd be leary; it seems common sense to check that the b*itch has milk after whelping. Not the mom's fault, but the owners aren't exactly on the ball.
