New ck and guinea owners

Hi from Texas!

We have 9 chicks and 2 guineas and hope that we purchased at least one rooster...lol.. The young guy at the store had a funny way of testing to see if the chick was a rooster! He held him upside down and if he did a sit up, he was a rooster???

We may have been had!!! LOL, anyone heard of this technique?

He probably believes what he told you but............ hope you get girl or two

Hello and I’ve never heard of them doing a sit-up but what I have heard of is laying them in their back and if they stick one or both legs out it’s a boy. I’ve heard of people getting high success rates with this technique. I thought I’d try it on 4 day old chicks and it worked... Not a big sample admittedly and guess it can’t be too reliable or the hatcheries wouldn’t employ vent sexers

Do any of you have any experience with wry neck in guineas? I noticed one of my two guineas couldn't lift his head. He was still following the other chickens and guinea around and looked like he was trying forage on the ground. I've been reading about causes and treatment...I'm trying the vitamins B and E on scrambled eggs.
I also brought him in the house away from the others but plan to put him back in the coop with the others at dusk... but leave him in a cage.
What do y'all think?

Make sure you are feeding them good chick starter
