New coop and getting chickens used to it

Getting ready to get a new coop 4' x 8'. We have two now but would like to get our 6 chickens into just one. Four of the chickens are 2 yrs old with the other 2 1 yr old. The Rhode Island Red and New Hampshire Red are aggressive to the youngsters when out loose. I have been reading about getting the chickens adapted to the new coop by locking them inside the new one for a couple of days with food and water. I am concerned though about doing that with the aggressive behavior of the Reds. Funny thing is the youngsters are Brahmas and bigger than them but still very scared of the Reds. We have begun noticing that the Brahmas nest on top of the other chickens coop at night which makes me believe they want to join the flock while sleeping even though they have their own coop. Any suggestions? I know I should let nature run its course but they are our babies and don't want any injuries.

I wouldn't lock them in the coop. I'd keep them confined to the coop AND RUN for about a week.
And remove the old coops.
