Hey guys! I just wanted to share my new coop and run with y'all. I'm new to chickens and this has been a very exciting and addicting hobby already. I decided to buy a pre-built coop to save some time so I could get my chicks sooner (I got my chicks on March 5th). Once I got my new coop set in place I needed a run. I plan on letting my girls free range but wanted the run for when I'm gone away from home over night or on vacations and just in case the landlord's dog decides she doesn't like the chickens. The run is 16' x 8' and should be plenty of run for the chickens when they aren't free ranging in the field behind the house. I have yet to finish putting the hardware cloth on the run and I'm waiting for a friend to get some free metal roofing materials for me. I plan to cover half of the top of the run with metal roof and keep the other opened with some type of covering to keep the hawks out. I need your options as to whether I should just cover the whole roof with metal or continue with my original plans.

Enjoy the pictures!

nice coop and run. what kind of chickens are you getting ? im not too far from you.

I've got RIR, black sex-link, welsummer, black copper maran, buff oprington, and "ameraucana" chicks that are about 3 weeks old now. So where are you located shmeggs?

we are in Gretna in Pittsylvania county. we have RIR and buff orpingtons.

I would cover the whole thing with metal roofing it will keep things alot dryer and if you get snow it will hold up alot better and slide off.
