I know people have made chicken poop hammocks before, but in case you haven't seen them, here's some pictures. It's been in for a little over a week now. I just went in to do my weekly coop cleaning and was very impressed. It caught all the poop, so I just have to pull it out, hose it off, and my bedding is still fresh and clean.
I used an old tarp, cut and sewed the edges to the right size. I added grommets at the point the tarp meets each roosting bar and screwed eye screws just below each bar. On the bottom bar, I added one eye screw under the bar so the tarp flips up and catches everything. A few carabiners to connect the tarp to the hooks and it's easy to remove. Make it tight and the chickens can still use the space underneath the roosts.
For a very inexpensive idea, it just saved me so much time on cleaning. Hope someone can make use of the idea.
