New coop - enough ventilation?

Thank you Cheep Cheep, and LynnP for your replies! I guess we will just play the roost thing by ear and make adjustments if needed. As for the vents, I think we will go ahead and do what you suggested with the covers. Trial and Error I guess! I want to thank everyone for taking the time for the warm welcome and friendly advice!

in our coop we have vents on either side for a cross wind, and a fan at the top of the coop (one chick has found the arm of the fan to be her fave roost at night, she is the highest up then). Our vents have doors that lift open and are covered with wire mesh, we leave them open most the time unless its winter.
Our vents are pretty good sized, and the fan just adds that much more to keep the air flowing, and it helps keep the girls cool when it is super hot at night.

you can see our coop at the link in our signature.

Thanks to all the people here I went with a more is better attitude while I'm building ours. Almost all the surface of two walls are various "windows" that can be covered when wanted or left open when it's too hot to breathe.

And in TN that happens often enough. For winter I'm building a couple of "set in" insulated panels for the window areas. I'll be able to set them in when needed and take them out when they aren't.

We've too few days of true freezing temperatures out this way. I'd rather they had the option of more air when it's hot, because it's hot a LOT longer.

If it weren't for these chicken-aholics, I'd have built a really solid thing and half suffocated them with good intentions. I feel really protective of them already.

Hugs and good luck....
