Taking the temp inside there is a good idea. Do it at night, too, when they will be locked in. We all know how cool and refreshing our nights are here during the summer.....

I checked the temp when I got home from work, it has been sunny all day with temp of 83 when I got home. The coop was all closed up and I took my temperature gun and them temp inside was 88, not bad considering it was closed up tight all day. So I will need to keep a close eye on temps in the coming weeks and add ventilation if needed.

Valrico FL here! That's a nice coop! FL is perfect for raising chicks. I have 10 new babies. I would love to join the FL thread too

I might be moving to south Florida to work in Davie, FL. Are there decent areas in the south Florida area that allow you to raise chickens, and keep roosters, pigeons or ducks? I would like to keep a few quality Cochins, Muscovies, and fancy pigeons to breed and show.

Nice coop.

I might be moving to south Florida to work in Davie, FL. Are there decent areas in the south Florida area that allow you to raise chickens, and keep roosters, pigeons or ducks? I would like to keep a few quality Cochins, Muscovies, and fancy pigeons to breed and show.

LOL, Jeff, Moscovies are considered pests in South FL. They breed worse than rabbits and are in every pond and canal, it seems.They poop on your patio and walkway and are generally a nuisance. Dunno anyone in FL that keeps them, just northerners(north of FL). Most any area in South FL has decent rural areas that support what you want to do. Just don't tell anyone you raise Moscovies, LOL, They might die laughing..........Pop

While Muscovy's are not native to Florida, they been here for a long, long, time.
From what I hear some types of Egrets and Herons are not native to Florida as are many other types of animals.
In Ybor City, Palmetto beach, and West Tampa, chickens from the descendants of immigrants run the area.
The chickens in Ybor City, are protected by the city's status as a bird sanctuary. Just like Canada Geese up north, if not controlled properly, they will become considered a nuisance.
I just think the Muscovy's gets a bad press because well meaning people feed them and as a result sometimes become a problem for non-duck lovers.
