Hi! Hubby and I are going to be picking up a former pony-ride pony September 22. He will be a companion for our miniature horse and a great first horse for our grandaughter. Our mini barn has been split into 2 sections: the front for our mini horse/2 goats, the back is our chicken coop. Each half is 16'×8'.

With our new pony, we need the entire barn for the goats/pony/mini horse. So we purchased a playhouse to turn into a coop, but realized tge chickens needed something larger. We are adding on to make the final coop 6'×16'. It will have 2 runs: a 10'×10' covered run, for times when we can't be home before dark to close them in (not very often) and a 30'×32' open run for everyday.
Here are some pics as we go, starting with when we brought the playhouse home. I had to rip out the paneling/styrofoam insulation and indoor/outdoor carpeting. We will be painting the inside walls with Kilz 2 (the playhouse interior is only fiber board) and laying linoleum on the floors. I LOVE the operable windows and will be covering the on the outside with hardware cloth.

So, it's been a couple weeks since I originally posted! We've made quite a bit of progress, considering we have only had time to work on the coop on weekends. I'm hoping to have my chickens moved in this weekend.....still need to put down the flooring, build the roost/poop sling

attach the nest boxes, add 2 more windows, finish the roofing, paint the outside of the addition

and attach the covered kennel.

But the addition is on and the inside is all painted with Kilz 2 (I'll have to add a pic of it after I painted the 2x4s).
